California Substitute Teachers Day

Governor's Proclamation designating May 9th, 2002 as California Substitute Teachers Day:
"Whereas, substitute teachers play an important role in the education of California's children; and
"Whereas, substitute teachers must be flexible and adapt to various teaching environments, curriculum requirements, and student needs; and
"Whereas, substitute teachers provide valuable instruction and support to students, faculties and schools in the Golden State; and
"Whereas, by sharing their time, energy and expertise, substitute teachers make a lasting impact on many young lives; and
"Whereas, celebrated on May 9th, 2002, California Substitute Teacher Day honors these hard-working professionals for their ongoing efforts to build a brighter future for our youth;
"NOW, THEREFORE, I, GRAY DAVIS Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim May 9, 2002 as "California Substitute Teacher Day."
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of California to be affixed
